Phloem-Specific Expression of Yang Cycle Genes and Identification of Novel Yang Cycle Enzymes in Plantago and Arabidopsis[C][W]

This work reports on the identification and characterization of enzymes of the Yang cycle, which recycle 5-methylthioadenosine to Met. It shows that the genes for all Yang cycle enzymes are expressed primarily in the phloem. One of the identified enzymes is a trimeric protein composed of subunits encoded by up to three separate genes in other organisms.
